Alumni: Lucy Letherland

Lucy Letherland, a BA Illustration and Animation graduate has received the Educational Writers’ Award 2015, the only award in the UK for educational writing, for her work illustrating the children’s book Atlas of Adventures, along with the book’s writer Rachel Williams.

The Educational Writers’ Award 2015 celebrated outstanding works written for 5-8 year olds and the shortlist featured works on subjects ranging from the food chain to space to the First World War.

Atlas of Adventures, which follows a boy and girl around the world, as they visit over 30 countries was praised by judges as being ‘beautifully designed’, ‘packed full of vibrant colour’ and ‘offering an experience not found on the internet’.

The award was presented to Letherland and Williams, along with £2000, by Ed Vaizey MP Minister of State for Culture and the Digital Economy, in a ceremony held in the House of Commons.
